Steps

  1. Click Settings at the bottom of the left menu. The Organisation tab opens.
  2. In TRN (Tax Registration Number), enter your 15-digit TRN.
  3. Tick This company is registered for VAT with the FTA.
  4. Enter the Effective date of registration — the date on your FTA certificate, not the day you received it.
  5. Choose the Filing period the FTA assigned you: Quarterly or Monthly.
  6. Optionally set First return from. If you leave it blank, MAJA uses the effective date.
  7. Check the Emirate further down the page.
  8. Click Save Organisation.

What MAJA does for you

  • Every invoice dated on or after the effective date is a TAX INVOICE with VAT. Anything dated before it stays an INVOICE with none.
  • The VAT return, the VAT Working Report and the FTA Audit File start at the effective date; earlier documents are left out.
  • Under the box MAJA shows your twelve-month taxable turnover against the voluntary and mandatory registration thresholds.

Good to know

  • A registrant needs a fifteen-digit TRN, and the effective date is required. It cannot be more than 30 days in the future.
  • Not registered: documents print as INVOICE with no VAT and no TRN, a supplier's VAT becomes part of cost, and there is no reverse charge, advance tax invoice or return.
  • Once VAT has been posted while registered, the box cannot be un-ticked — that would be deregistration, which MAJA does not handle as a checkbox.
  • If invoices dated on or after the new effective date carry no VAT, MAJA lists them after saving so you can edit each one.
  • Input tax paid before registration can be claimed from the Pre-registration input tax tab under VAT & Corp. Tax.
