Create a composite item (bill of materials)

Before you start

• Each component (raw material, packaging, service) must already exist as an item with a cost above zero.

Steps

1. Click Inventory in the left menu, then Composite Items.
2. Click New Composite Item.
3. Type the Composite Item Name and a unique SKU.
4. Enter the Selling Price (AED) and choose the Sales VAT.
5. Optionally set the Unit, the Item Group (optional) and a Description.
6. Under Components to make 1 unit, click Add Component.
7. Choose the component and type the Qty per unit. The Ref. Unit Cost (AED) fills from the component item.
8. Repeat Add Component for every component.
9. For a restaurant or café dish, tick Made to order under Menu (restaurant & café) and set the Station, photo, meal-period prices and add-ons if you use them.
10. Click Save Composite Item.

What MAJA does for you

• Creates a real, sellable finished-goods item with stock tracking, and saves its recipe.
• Shows a Reference Cost / unit. This is an estimate only — the real stock value comes from purchases and production.
• A normal composite item gets its stock from a Production Order. A Made to order dish takes its components from stock, first-in-first-out, at the moment it is sold.

Good to know

• MAJA refuses the save if the name or SKU is missing, if the SKU is already used by any item, if the Selling Price is not above zero, if there is no component, or if a component line has a cost of 0.00.
• A composite item can itself be a component of another composite item.
• Reports → Production → BOM Cost Analysis compares each recipe's standard cost with today's item costs.
