Revalue stock (change its value, not its quantity)
Quick answerIn MAJA Books go to Inventory → Stock Adjustments → New Adjustment, set Type to Value (revaluation), pick the item and date, enter the New total value (AED) or New unit cost (AED), and click Save Adjustment — the quantity stays and the stock carries the new value from that date.
Steps
- Click Inventory, then Stock Adjustments, then New Adjustment.
- Set the Date of the valuation.
- Change Type to Value (revaluation). The Reason changes to Inventory Revaluation.
- Choose the Item. MAJA shows the quantity on hand on that date, its value and its value per unit.
- Enter the New total value (AED), or the New unit cost (AED). MAJA fills in the other.
- Add a Description and click Save Adjustment.
What MAJA does for you
- Keeps the quantity. The stock that stood on that date gets the new value, and the difference is posted to 5190 Inventory Adjustment / Shrinkage.
- Makes the new unit cost the item's cost.
- Sales from that date onwards are restated to the new cost at their own dates. Stock used before that date keeps the price its own documents gave it.
- The success message shows the old value, the new value and the new cost per unit.
Good to know
- A revaluation applies to the item across the whole company. It cannot be limited to one location.
- Every restated sale must sit in an open period.
- If the item held no stock on that date, MAJA says there is nothing to revalue. If the value is unchanged, it says No revaluation needed.
