How MAJA splits Box 1 by emirate
Quick answerMAJA Books reports standard-rated sales in Box 1a–1g of the VAT return by each invoice's Place of Supply; an invoice with no place of supply is reported under your own emirate from Settings → Organisation (Dubai if none is set), and MAJA warns you how many invoices that applies to.
Steps
- Make sure your own emirate is set: Settings → Organisation → Emirate, then Save Organisation.
- On each invoice, set the Place of Supply to the emirate where the supply takes place.
- Click VAT & Corp. Tax, set the period and click Calculate VAT.
- Read rows 1a to 1g: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, each with its amount and VAT.
What MAJA does for you
- Adds each invoice's standard-rated amount and VAT to the emirate of its place of supply.
- Reports any invoice without a place of supply under your own emirate, and shows a yellow note: "… invoice(s) carry no place of supply and were reported under your own emirate". Open those invoices and set it.
- Saves the emirate split as part of the filed return when you click Mark Period as Filed.
Good to know
- If no emirate is set in Settings, MAJA uses Dubai.
- Box 1 total is the sum of 1a–1g, after any bad-debt relief adjustment.
