Settle card or payment-gateway money to your bank

Before you start

• Create a Money in Transit — card / gateway payouts account under Bank & Cash → Add Account, and receive card or online payments into it.

Steps

1. Open MAJA Books and click Bank & Cash in the left menu.
2. In the Accounts table, click Settle on the Money in Transit account. The window shows how much the account is holding.
3. Choose Received into — the bank or cash account the payout arrived in.
4. Set Date the bank was credited.
5. Enter Released from this account and Received in the bank, as the payout statement shows them.
6. If the two differ, choose The processor's cut goes to (Bank Charges is suggested).
7. Optionally enter the payout Reference and a Note, then click Post the settlement.

What MAJA does for you

• MAJA posts Dr your bank (what arrived), Dr the fee account (the difference), Cr Money in Transit (what was released). The preview in the window shows exactly this before you post.
• The fee becomes an expense on the payout date, not a smaller sale.

Good to know

• The bank cannot receive more than the account released — MAJA refuses: A settlement cannot create money.
• Releasing more than the account holds asks you to confirm, since it usually means a receipt has not been recorded yet.
• A settlement dated in a locked period is refused with Settlement blocked: and the reason.
