Transfer stock between locations

Before you start

• You need at least two locations. Otherwise MAJA says A transfer needs two locations — add one under Inventory → Locations first.

Steps

1. Click Inventory in the left menu, then Transfers.
2. Click New transfer.
3. Check the Date and add Notes (why the stock moves).
4. Choose From and To.
5. On the first line, choose the item and type the Qty. The On hand column shows how much the From location holds.
6. Click Add line for each further item.
7. Click Save.

What MAJA does for you

• Gives the transfer a number and shows how many lines and how much value moved.
• Takes the stock out of the From location by FIFO at those layers' costs and puts it into the To location at the same costs. Batch numbers and expiry dates move with it.
• Posts no journal, because the stock stays in the same inventory account.

Undo a transfer

1. Click the transfer in the list.
2. Click Void this transfer and type the reason.
3. Confirm. The stock goes back exactly where it came from, and the transfer stays on the list marked VOID.

Good to know

• A transfer cannot move more than the From location holds, and From and To must be different.
• A transfer can only be voided while nothing that arrived has been sold or used.
