Run depreciation
Quick answerIn MAJA Books go to Accountant → Fixed Assets and click Run Depreciation; MAJA previews every due period per asset and, when you confirm, posts Dr 5700 Depreciation Expense / Cr 1510 Accumulated Depreciation for each one.
Steps — all assets
- Click Accountant in the left menu, then Fixed Assets.
- Click Run Depreciation.
- Read the preview: each asset, the number of periods due and the amount, and the total.
- Click OK to post.
Steps — one asset
- In the asset register, click the asset.
- Click Run Depreciation (the button shows the number of periods due).
- Confirm.
What MAJA does for you
- Posts one journal per due period, dated the end of that period: Dr 5700 Depreciation Expense / Cr 1510 Accumulated Depreciation.
- Updates accumulated depreciation and net book value. An asset that reaches zero book value is marked fully depreciated.
Good to know
- If nothing is due, MAJA says No depreciation periods are due.
- Periods in a closed month are skipped and counted in the message. If all due periods are in closed months, reopen the month first (Accountant → Periods).
- In Settings → Accounting, Depreciation Posting can be set to Automatic — prompt at month-end when periods are due. MAJA then asks you to review and post when periods are due; it never posts without asking.
