Add a stock location (store or warehouse)
Quick answerIn MAJA Books go to Inventory → Locations → New location, enter a Code and Name, choose the Kind (Store, Warehouse, a platform's warehouse or Other), and click Save; bills can then be received into that location and stock moved between locations with a transfer.
Steps
- Click Inventory in the left menu, then Locations.
- Click New location.
- Enter a short Code (for example WH1) and the Name. Add Name (Arabic), Address and Notes if you want.
- Choose the Kind: Store, Warehouse, A platform's warehouse (fulfilled by them) or Other.
- Click Save.
Choose where each POS store sells from
- On the same page, find The POS stores.
- For each store, choose a location under Sells from, or leave "the whole company".
- Click Save on that row.
What MAJA does for you
- Main is the default location and holds everything already in your books.
- Once you have more than one active location, the bill form shows a location field, and the bill's goods are received into that location.
- A till sells, cooks and throws away from its store's location once the store is given one.
- The list shows how many items are in stock at each location and their value.
Good to know
- To make another location the default, click default on its row. Every stock layer with no location is then read as that location's.
- To switch a location off, click Edit and untick Active. The default location always stays active.
- Reports → Inventory → Stock by location shows every item with a column per location.
