  2. Click New Debit Note at the top of the Sales screen.
  3. The form opens titled New Debit Note. Choose the Customer.
  4. In Debit note against invoice *, choose the original invoice.
  5. Check the date and place of supply, then add the line(s) for the extra amount with their VAT%.
  6. Click Save & Send.

What MAJA does for you

  • Under UAE VAT an increase in what a customer owes is a supplementary tax invoice, so MAJA saves it as an invoice in its own DBN- series and prints the original invoice number on it.
  • It posts like any invoice: receivable, revenue and output VAT.

Good to know

  • A debit note must name its original invoice; MAJA refuses one without it.
  • The original must belong to the same customer.
  • If the feature has not been set up on your company's database yet, MAJA shows a message saying so and does not open the form.
  • To reduce what a customer owes, issue a credit note instead.
  • The Create Debit Note item in an invoice's ··· menu does not open this form — it takes you to Purchase → Debit Notes, which is for suppliers. Use New Debit Note on the Sales screen.
