Take payment by cash, card or a split of both

Before you start

• A shift must be open. If not, the Open the shift sheet appears first.

Steps — cash

1. Tap PAY (or press F4). The Payment sheet opens with Cash selected.
2. Type the money received in Cash tendered · AED, or tap exact or the +5 … +500 buttons.
3. Check the Change figure.
4. Tap Take payment.

Steps — card

1. Tap PAY, then Card.
2. Check Amount on the card · AED.
3. Tap the amount on your card machine and let the customer pay.
4. Type the Approval code from the card slip, then tap Take payment. If your card machine is linked, tap Send … to the card machine instead and the answer fills in by itself.

Steps — split between methods

1. On the Payment sheet choose the first method and type its part (for example the cash the customer has).
2. Tap Add this & split. The part is listed and STILL TO PAY shows the rest.
3. Choose the next method (for example Card) and take the rest.
4. When it reads PAID IN FULL, tap Finish — print the receipt. A part added by mistake can be removed with × before you finish.

What MAJA does for you

• Gives the sale its receipt number (till code and a running number, for example T1-000042) and prints the receipt if Print the receipt as soon as the sale is paid is on in Setup.
• Opens the cash drawer on a cash sale when the printer bridge drives the drawer.
• Shows the change due, then Print, Send and Next sale.
• Keeps the sale in the till's memory and sends it to MAJA Books, at once when online or later when the connection returns.

Good to know

• Cash is rounded to 25 fils ("Cash rounding (25 fils)") when the store setting is on; a card always pays the exact amount.
• A card cannot take more than is still to pay: "A card takes the exact amount — … is still to pay".
• Short cash is refused with "Cash of … is short of … — tap "Add this & split" and take the rest by card".
• Foreign cash appears when the store lists currencies in Setup → Store & receipt (for example "EUR 3.98, USD 3.6725"); change is given in dirhams.
• Other buttons on the sheet: Store credit, Gift card and Points (when switched on), and On account for a known customer — above their credit limit a manager must allow it.
