Connect your card machine to the till

Before you start

• The card machine stays your bank's own. Without a link, MAJA works by hand: you key the amount on the machine and type the slip's approval code.
• The link runs through the MAJA bridge, a small program (tools/maja-bridge, Node 18 or newer) on the till PC. Its config needs a card block that names your bank's driver. A simulator driver exists for training.

Steps

1. On the till PC, add the card block to the bridge's config and run the bridge (see the bridge's README).
2. In MAJA POS open Setup and find Devices (this till).
3. Check Printer bridge on this PC (usually http://127.0.0.1:7777).
4. Tick Card machine link.
5. Set Card machine — seconds to wait for the answer (15 to 180; 60 by default).
6. Click Save & check the bridge. The status line names the card machine when the bridge has one.
7. Click Test the card machine.

Steps — taking a card payment

1. At PAY tap Card.
2. Tap Send … to the card machine. The till shows "Tap or insert the card on the machine…" with a countdown.
3. When the bank approves, the card type, last four digits and approval code go on the payment line and the receipt, and the sale finishes by itself.

Good to know

• Declined, cancelled or an error: the till says so. After an error it switches to typing the code by hand.
• Type the code by hand instead is always there on the Card payment.
• A card refund goes to the machine the same way from the Return sheet.
• Only the last four digits of a card leave the bridge.
• MAJA Books → POS reports → "Card payments — by the machine, by hand" shows how each card payment was taken.
