Connect a receipt printer and cash drawer

Before you start

• Without the bridge, MAJA POS prints through the browser's print window.
• The bridge is a small program (tools/maja-bridge) run with Node 18 or newer on the PC the printer is attached to. Add a print block to its config naming the receipt printer (a network printer by its IP, or a shared USB printer) and the drawer, and leave it running.

Steps

1. Start the bridge on the till PC.
2. In MAJA POS open Setup and find Devices (this till).
3. Check Printer bridge on this PC (http://127.0.0.1:7777 by default).
4. Tick Print receipts, X and Z through the bridge.
5. Keep Open the drawer on every cash sale and cash refund ticked if a drawer is wired to the printer.
6. Set Receipt printer width (576 for 80 mm paper, 384 for 58 mm).
7. For kitchen printers, fill Station printers with the bridge's printer name for each station.
8. Click Save & check the bridge, then Print a test slip, Print a sample receipt and Open the drawer.

What MAJA does for you

• Sends each receipt as a picture, so Arabic and the barcode print exactly as on screen.
• Opens the drawer on cash sales and cash refunds.
• Prints kitchen tickets on the station printers when This till prints the kitchen tickets (KOT) is ticked.

Good to know

• These settings are kept on this device only; set them on each till.
• The Home tile Open drawer opens the drawer with no sale. It needs a supervisor and asks for a reason, which is logged.
• If the bridge is not running you see "The bridge did not answer" on a test, and receipts fall back to the browser's print window.
