Sell and redeem gift cards and vouchers

Steps — switch gift cards on

1. In MAJA Books open MAJA POS → Offers & members.
2. In the gift card card, click Switch on, set the months after which a card lapses (0 = never) and click Save.
3. The tills get the Gift card item at their next catalogue sync.

Steps — sell a gift card

1. On the sale screen tap Gift card.
2. Type the Amount · AED (or tap 50, 100, 200, 500).
3. Scan the printed card's barcode, or leave the code blank and the till makes one.
4. Tap Add to the sale, then take payment as usual. The code prints on the receipt.

Steps — pay with a gift card

1. At PAY tap Gift card.
2. Scan the card or type its code and tap Check the card.
3. Check Take from it · AED and tap Apply the card. Take any rest by another method.

Steps — vouchers

1. In MAJA Books, in the same card, click New voucher.
2. Type the Code and Name, choose AED or % off, the Value, a minimum sale, the most uses and the dates. Click Save.
3. At the till, tap Discount, type the code in or a voucher code (checked online) and tap Use the voucher.

What MAJA does for you

• A gift card is not a sale: no VAT on the card; the money sits on Gift Cards Outstanding until the card buys goods, which carry the VAT.
• Checks and spends a card on the server the moment it is applied, so it cannot be spent twice; the receipt shows what stays on it.
• Counts a voucher's uses on the server, and gives the use back if the sale is abandoned.

Good to know

• Gift cards and vouchers are checked online only: "A gift card is checked and spent online only — the till is offline".
• A gift card is sold at the counter, not on a table order.
• A refund can go back onto a gift card (Return → Gift card).
• Issue a card in MAJA Books gives a free card (a prize or goodwill); Void cancels an open card.
