Make a sale — scan, search, quantity and customer

Before you start

• The till needs a catalogue. If Sell shows "no catalogue yet", tap Catalogue on Home while online.

Steps

1. On Home tap Sell.
2. Scan an item's barcode. The cursor waits in the box "Scan a barcode, or type a name or code…".
3. To find an item without a barcode, type part of its name or code and press Enter; if several items match, tap the right one in the list. You can also tap a quick key on the right (the tabs are the item groups).
4. To sell several at once, type the number and × (for example 6 ×) and then scan, or tap the qty button and type the quantity for the next scan.
5. Use − and + on a line to change its quantity. A weighed item steps by 100 g.
6. Tap a line to open its sheet: change Quantity, Price each (incl. VAT), a discount, or add a Note on this line, then tap Apply. The bin icon removes the line.
7. To put a customer on the sale, tap the Walk-in customer chip, type at least three digits of the phone or a name, and tap the customer. For someone new tap New customer, fill Name, Phone and, for a VAT-registered business, the 15-digit TRN, then tap Save and use.
8. Tap Note to print a note on the receipt.
9. Tap PAY to take the payment.

What MAJA does for you

• Prices on the till include VAT; the totals show Items, any Discount, of which VAT and TOTAL · AED.
• Active offers (3 for 10, member prices and so on) apply by themselves.
• A customer with a TRN gets a full tax invoice instead of a simplified one.
• A dish with add-ons asks for them as soon as it is added.
• The sale on the screen is saved on the till, so a reload does not lose it.

Good to know

• A product with sizes or colours is one quick key ("T-shirt · 6 Size × Colour"): tap it and the grid opens — sizes down, colours across, each cell with its price and how many are left — tap the one the customer takes. A variant's own barcode scans straight into the sale. The grid is set up in MAJA Books → the item → Custom Variants.
• Keyboard shortcuts on the sale screen: F2 discount, F4 PAY, F7 recall, F8 hold, F9 customer.
• Changing a price asks a supervisor unless your role allows overrides.
• A line added in the last 20 seconds (a mis-scan) can be removed by anyone; an older line needs a supervisor.
• Cancel clears the whole sale after a supervisor allows it; it is logged for the manager.
• Scanning a receipt's barcode in the box opens a return for that receipt.
• An inactive item is refused ("… is inactive — it cannot be sold"), and so is a dish the kitchen took off the menu ("… is not available today").
• A customer added while offline is kept with the sale and created in MAJA Books when the till is back online.
