Before you start

  • Save your spreadsheet as a .csv file with one header row.

Steps

  1. In the left menu, under Employee, click Employees.
  2. Click Import CSV at the top right and choose the file.
  3. On Smart CSV Import — Field Mapping, check each source column and the MAJA field it Maps to. Change any wrong one, or choose — Skip this column —.
  4. If you want MAJA to guess again, click Re-auto-detect.
  5. Click Preview import. (It stays disabled until First Name or Full Name, and Date of Joining, are mapped.)
  6. On Import Preview, read the red and amber boxes, untick rows you do not want, and tick Include duplicates only if you really want them.
  7. Click Import selected.

What MAJA does for you

  • Columns are matched by their names: Employee ID, First/Last or Full Name (split for you), Date of Joining, Department, Role / Designation, Basic Salary (AED), Email, Phone, Status, Hours Per Day, Shift Type, Day Off, IBAN, Passport No., Nationality (country), Labour card no. (MOL ID) and Bank routing code.
  • Dates such as "14-Sep-2020" become 2020-09-14; "ACTIVE" becomes Active; shifts and days off are matched to yours.
  • Departments that do not exist yet are added.
  • Rows with no Employee ID are numbered by the server.

Good to know

  • A row with no name, an unreadable date of joining, or an Employee ID that is not a plain number is not imported — fix the file and import again.
  • A labour card number that is not 14 digits, or a routing code that is not 9 digits, is left blank with a warning.
  • A row whose Employee ID or full name already exists is marked Duplicate and skipped unless you tick Include duplicates.
  • The pension category is never read from a file. Every imported employee starts as Expatriate; change UAE and GCC nationals in Edit afterwards.
  • A missing salary is allowed — the contract will carry the salary.
