Calculate end-of-service gratuity

Quick answerIn MAJA Payroll go to HR → Gratuity calculator, choose the employee under Auto-fill from employee (or type the basic salary and service), check the reason and unused leave days, and read the result — 21 days' basic a year for the first five years, 30 days a year after, capped at two years' basic; click Generate certificate to print it.

Steps

  1. Under HR, click Gratuity calculator.
  2. In Auto-fill from employee, choose the employee — or leave — manual entry — and type the figures.
  3. Check Basic salary (AED/mo) and the Years, Months and Days of service.
  4. Choose the Reason for leaving.
  5. Check Unused AL days and add any Other settlement (AED).
  6. Read the Gratuity result.
  7. Click Generate certificate, then Save as PDF or CSV.

What MAJA does for you

  • Service is counted in calendar days from the joining date, both ends included, ÷ 365 — to today, or to the last working day of an employee already settled.
  • Gratuity is on the last basic salary only: basic ÷ 30 × 21 days a year for the first five years, × 30 days a year after, capped at 24 months' basic.
  • Unused leave is added at basic ÷ 30 a day, and the total final settlement is shown.
  • The table All employees — gratuity summary shows each person's gratuity to date, monthly accrual and tier.

Good to know

  • Less than one year of service gives no gratuity ("Minimum 1 year of continuous service required").
  • UAE and GCC nationals are under pension, so their gratuity is 0.
  • The reason for leaving does not reduce the amount — under the current law gratuity is the same for every exit type.
  • To actually pay an employee who is leaving, use Process a final settlement.
