Connect an attendance (biometric) machine

Quick answerIn MAJA Payroll go to Employee → Biometric devices → Add device, enter a name and the machine's serial number, choose how it connects (ADMS push, HTTP webhook or Local bridge), click Register and follow the setup steps shown — punches then arrive by themselves and become attendance days, matched to employees by Employee ID.
Where: MAJA Payroll → Employee → Biometric devicesWho: The owner, an admin, or a role allowed to see payroll

Before you start

  • Give every employee an Employee ID equal to their user number on the machine.

Steps

  1. In the left menu, under Employee, click Biometric devices.
  2. Click Add device.
  3. Enter a Name (for example Main gate) and the Serial number exactly as the machine shows it.
  4. Choose How it connects: the ADMS push option (the machine pushes over the internet by itself), the HTTP webhook option (the device calls a web address), or the Local bridge option (a small program on a PC on the machine's network).
  5. Add a Location (optional) and check the Machine's time zone (Asia/Dubai by default).
  6. Click Register.
  7. Follow the setup steps that open. For webhook and bridge devices, copy the device key now — it is shown once. For a bridge device the steps give download links for the three bridge files (bridge.js, its example config and the readme).
  8. Click Done. Within a minute of the machine connecting it shows as Online.

What MAJA does for you

  • Punches waiting are turned into attendance days at every sign-in and when you click Sync now.
  • Each day is built with the same rules as a .dat import (Settings → Attendance Rules).
  • A day that a person entered or imported by hand is never overwritten by the machine.
  • Punches whose user number matches no employee are listed under Unmapped user numbers; set that number as an employee's Employee ID and they are picked up.

Good to know

  • Online means the machine spoke to MAJA in the last 10 minutes.
  • New key stops the old key at once; give the device the new one.
  • Disable refuses the machine's punches until you Enable it again; deleting a device keeps the punches already received.
  • If the page says the server part is not installed yet, biometric devices are not available for your company yet.
